Printing a File

Optimising a picture for printing
Change resolution to 300 pixels per inch
Click on Image in Menu Bar - Image Size - change resolution to 300 pixels per inch - make sure resample image is not ticked - ok
300 pixels per inch is the minimum for printing a picture.
Convert to CMYK
To preview a picture in print size - click View in Menu Bar - Print Size ( if you can't see print size - select in the same menu - show - All ( then print size will be in your menu))
View - Show- None
Double click on hand to optimise zoom
CMYK stands for Cyan, magenta, yellow and Black
Image - Mode - CMYK - OK
Size in Mg increases
File - Save as - save in a new name


Generate a print friendly format eg TIFF
When you print to a screen you refer to pixels, when you print to paper you refer to points
File = save as - change drop down menu to TIFF don't click as a copy
Save
Byte order is important - if you are going to manipulate further on a mac or a pc
